Merry Christmas!

We had a really low-key and relaxing celebration of Christmas. Elliette was so excited when she came in my room to tell me that Santa came! We got Cadence up and headed to the living room to have some opening presents fun.

The girls emptied their stockings first. They each got some Minnie Mouse shirts for our upcoming Disney World trip!

Cadence was so excited about her new baby doll!

The girls love their Rose Petal Cottage. I found it on Craigslist for a DEAL. Of course, it's huge and bulky, and our house isn't very big, so we're going to pack it up and pull it out when we get to Buckley.

And what do you buy for the man who has been working out really hard? Yep, you buy him "Really Ripped Abs on Steroids." See his excitement?!!

Elliette was really excited about her new Barbie and princess dress-up clothes and light-up shoes (thanks, Shelley!).... Cadence quickly stole the shoes.

Thank you, Papa, for the Tinkerbell pillow/sleeping bag!

Thank you, Nanny, for the eReader!

After all of the presents were open, we had a "Christmas Story" moment. Eric asked Elliette if she got any Barbies. She said, "no, but it's okay." She was so happy and thankful for everything. Eric had hidden one last gift behind the couch, and he told Elliette to go and get it. She brought it back around, and then he told her that it was a forgotten present, and she needed to open it. It was a pretty big box, so I don't think she had any idea about what was inside.

After she tore off about half of the wrapping paper, she figured out what it was. It was, not one, but SEVEN PRINCESS BARBIES! She shouted, "I'm so happy!"

After we opened all of the presents, I made our traditional Christmas breakfast of yummy monkey bread.

We were supposed to go to the VanVeelen's house for Christmas dinner. However, not long after Cadence went down for her nap, Elliette walked into the kitchen told me that her tummy hurt. Immediately after that she threw up all over the floor. I gave her a bath while Eric cleaned up the kitchen. Even though Elliette seemed to feel fine after the one throwing up incident, we decided not to take the stomach bug to the VanVeelen's. However, we were in charge of green bean casserole, which is a big part of Christmas dinner! Eric took the casserole over, and I struggled to decide what our family was going to eat for Christmas dinner. We ended up going with chicken fajitas, which is our family's favorite meal. We finished it off with some yummy peppermint chip cheesecake.

Our Christmas this year did not turn out how we had planned; however, we were thankful for a wonderful and quiet family day. Merry Christmas from the Blanchard's!

Christmas Eve

We had an awesome Christmas Eve. We started the morning with some basketball and a workout at the Y, and then we took the kids to Ft. Gordon for some bowling. It was the girls' first bowling trip, and I wasn't quite sure how Elliette would like it.

The girls were excited about wearing the new shoes!

The bowling alley has cute little ramps for the kiddos.

Cadence wasn't a fan of bowling.

Aidan temporarily joined our family for a picture.

Best friends!

Overall the bowling was a success. I can't wait to go again!
After the girls had nap/quiet time, we let them decorate the gingerbread house...

... and Elliette made some Reindeer food.

We headed to Lewis for the Christmas Eve service. Once again, it was beautiful. We decided to put Cadence in the nursery so that we could really enjoy the service (and to not disturb those around us!). Elliette was great through the service.

We came home and took some sweet pictures.

We have a sweet Monkey and a sweet Nugget. What more could we want?!

Blanchard Family Christmas Eve!!

Our tradition is to let the kids open one present on Christmas Eve. They were so excited to get some new jammies!

And because Eric is a big kid himself (which I LOVE about you, Babe!), the girls got to open one more present.

Cadence got a new book!

Elliette got some magnetic letters.

After the girls had their Christmas Eve Baths and put on their new jammies, it was time to decorate cookies for Santa!

And we didn't forget to put out the Reindeer food! We decided to leave it in the bowl so they wouldn't have to search our yard.

The girls went down pretty well. Elliette knew that Santa wouldn't come if she didn't go to sleep. Once the girls were fast asleep, Eric and I got busy getting everything ready for Christmas morning.

We had quite a few things under the tree. When you live so far away from ALL of your family, you end up getting quite a few boxes at Christmas time!
