We had a really low-key and relaxing celebration of Christmas. Elliette was so excited when she came in my room to tell me that Santa came! We got Cadence up and headed to the living room to have some opening presents fun.
The girls emptied their stockings first. They each got some Minnie Mouse shirts for our upcoming Disney World trip!
Cadence was so excited about her new baby doll!
The girls love their Rose Petal Cottage. I found it on Craigslist for a DEAL. Of course, it's huge and bulky, and our house isn't very big, so we're going to pack it up and pull it out when we get to Buckley.
And what do you buy for the man who has been working out really hard? Yep, you buy him "Really Ripped Abs on Steroids." See his excitement?!!
Elliette was really excited about her new Barbie and princess dress-up clothes and light-up shoes (thanks, Shelley!).... Cadence quickly stole the shoes.
Thank you, Papa, for the Tinkerbell pillow/sleeping bag!
Thank you, Nanny, for the eReader!
After all of the presents were open, we had a "Christmas Story" moment. Eric asked Elliette if she got any Barbies. She said, "no, but it's okay." She was so happy and thankful for everything. Eric had hidden one last gift behind the couch, and he told Elliette to go and get it. She brought it back around, and then he told her that it was a forgotten present, and she needed to open it. It was a pretty big box, so I don't think she had any idea about what was inside.
After she tore off about half of the wrapping paper, she figured out what it was. It was, not one, but SEVEN PRINCESS BARBIES! She shouted, "I'm so happy!"
After we opened all of the presents, I made our traditional Christmas breakfast of yummy monkey bread.
We were supposed to go to the VanVeelen's house for Christmas dinner. However, not long after Cadence went down for her nap, Elliette walked into the kitchen told me that her tummy hurt. Immediately after that she threw up all over the floor. I gave her a bath while Eric cleaned up the kitchen. Even though Elliette seemed to feel fine after the one throwing up incident, we decided not to take the stomach bug to the VanVeelen's. However, we were in charge of green bean casserole, which is a big part of Christmas dinner! Eric took the casserole over, and I struggled to decide what our family was going to eat for Christmas dinner. We ended up going with chicken fajitas, which is our family's favorite meal. We finished it off with some yummy peppermint chip cheesecake.
Our Christmas this year did not turn out how we had planned; however, we were thankful for a wonderful and quiet family day. Merry Christmas from the Blanchard's!
